I'm a mother of 5 and grandmother to 13. I've worked as a caregiver for the last 15+ years and counting. I love my clients and working with the elderly. What started out as a job became second nature and probably alot of that has to do with my cultural background. I loved it so much, I paid for my own training and certifications to be an independent caregiver. I got bonded, insured and registered with the state and I have several great references from the loving families of those whom I have cared for over the years. I've had great experiences with those who I have worked for and with, along with learning from wonderful nurses and doctors that I've interacted with during the care of many of my clients. I am very proud of the achievements I've made in taking the initiative to learn as I go with each client, and each client came with various conditions and ailments, and some with multiple conditions. It has been a great journey of growth and connection for me like no other and I find it so fulfilling to be able to help our elderly population in need. They have been all like family.

Caregiver Experience: In the past 16 years I've been both a live-in and live-out caregiver, companion and personal assistant for multiple clients. I've assisted with daily living activities, companionship, meals, transportation and medications reminders. a) I helped a friend take care of her mother for 3 months while she was under the care of Hospice. I monitored her insulin shots and medications. b) I've been a part of four end-of-life transitions while working with Hospice. c) I helped my sister during her recovery after a kidney transplant. d) I helped both my mother and a friend with their rehabilitation exercises and recoveries after having had strokes. - Special Interest/Skill: Listening, Problem Solver - Background: 20+ years as an application programmer. - Other: If you're aware of the Myers-Briggs type indicator (MBTI); I'm an INFP (Introvert; Intuition; Feeling; Perception) I've had a life long interest in communication and have participated in numerous workshops and classes in communication. It's been my experience that this allows me to communicate more effectively with other communication styles.
