I earned my CNA at age 16 and got my start working in convalescent hospitals. This offered me the experience to work with people from diverse backgrounds,. I have worked with clients with Alzheimer's and most of the ailments and diseases that affect our elderly today. In my 20+ years of working with elderly clients and their families I have gained empathy, and understanding. Losing your independence is hard. Having a stranger in your home is harder still. Not to mention confusing. I treat all my clients and their families with compassion and respect. Above all else I allow them the dignity they deserve. I stayed home to raise my son after he was born and have been back at work for about a year. I have taken many refresher courses to make sure I am current on all of the policies and procedures that changed while I was away.
