I started off helping out a friend of the family who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, That was one of the most rewarding positions that I have ever worked. I enjoy helping people and giving them the quality care that they deserve. In 1989 I was able to help my father after he fell 100' down a mountain cliff. We were able to view the whole rescue on TV with my Dad because the show Emergency 911 was filming and had been interviewing Rescue Air 5. It was great being a part of all the people who were able to respond and help as a team to save my Dads life. In 2010 I helped manage care for a quadriplegic, We developed a relationship and working with Gordon was a pleasure. I have worked with Hospice patience and traumatic brain injuries, also worked in the memory unite at Pointe Palermo. All of the people that I was able to help was so rewarding and life moving.
I am personable and enjoy being a home care provider. I became a caregiver because I wanted to help others by assisting them with their activities of daily living. I enjoyed caring for many seniors over the years and learned quite a lot from them. I believe I'm a great caregiver because I have had extensive training in a skilled nursing facility as well as in many private homes. I also enjoy seeing the difference that I often make in people's lives. I became a nursing assistant back in 1982 and acquired my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license at the convalescent hospital where I worked. I then went on to work for several home care agencies and acquired my Certified Home HeaIth Aide (CHHA) license. I have worked as an independent contractor caregiver for years. I am willing to commute for full-time employment. I have great references and will be happy to submit them upon request.
Nursing is a calling for me. Making sure that people receive the best possible care I am able to provide is my most important goal. Safety first always, compassion, dignity, privacy, respect and hope are all important attribute's that I find essential to good nursing care. It is a meaningful gratifying experience to know that I can add to someone's life and possibility bring goodness when health issues can be a challenge and so often depressing. Good nursing requires being completely present while in someone's home or in a facility. My standards are no cell phones while at work, no clock watching, and I always address people with respect by using MR.or Mrs. (last name) until I am encouraged otherwise. Using Mama or Papa and other terms of endearment are not appropriate for me personally in professional healthcare. I use old fashion "yes Mam, yes Sir, no Mam, no Sir. and in an audible understandable language. CNA #00648980
