I care for people a great deal. i first began being a caregiver when my best friend had to have a knee replacement. The doctors did not want to give her a knee replacement on the first try, so they used cadaver parts. This didn't work and the doctors actually said to Shelly and I they shouldn't have tried this as there wasn't enough bone and cartiledge for the cadaver parts to adhere to. Then they did the full knee replacement and she was exposed to the worst kind of MRSA ever. Shelly had to undergo 7 more knee operations, several blood transfusions, and was bedridden for over a year without a knee , just a plate in place of a knee. She went into deep clinical depression and gained 130 pounds at least. I felt her pain, misery, and depression in my heart and began to spend time with her when she was bedridden and took care of all her needs from 2006 until she passed away in March of 2013. Caregiver

IHSS

Dec 2006 - Dec 2013

I took care of all my roommates needs and desires. She was very ill and bedridden and all alone. I was her best friend, roommate and sole caregiver. I was responsible for absolutely every detail in her life. I took care of her financial responsibilities, any and all correspondance, bathing her, helping her get to her port-a-potty, cleansed her, cooking, feeding, cleaning her room, sheets, house, shopping, taking her to her doct ors appt.'s, and was her companion. As I was her caregiver, she taught me so much. She barely complained and saw life with a sence of humor. I admire her so much. ... more
