Hello! My name is Brenda and I have been enjoying providing caregiving for 2 clients since November of 2021. I feel that compassion is the #1 quality that is important in caregiving. I try my best to live by the Golden Rule, to treat others how I would like them to treat me. But being a caregiver has really taught me how to apply this principle even further, everyday, in practical situations, by trying to put myself in their shoes and then doing my best to be of assitance. I have never thought about being a caregiver before but since there was a need I tried it out and it is a very satisfying work. I like to help others around me to feel as comfortable as possible. I enjoy being a volunteer and have been working in my own community for over 20 years. I enjoy meeting new people and learning things about other cultures, trying new foods and even learning new languages. For work, I used to work in an office, in the classroom assisting language learners and students with special needs and then changed to being an ESL teacher. I had a lot of fun teaching English to children and adults. I think my time working as a volunteer and in the classroom has helped me to be more understanding of people and develop greater patience, which has helped me as a caregiver.
