I was a caregiver for my grandmother who lived with us. She had Alzheimer's, diabetes and dialysis the last 6 months before she passed. I would cook her meals which are breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a little snack in between those meals usually fruits. I would also help her bath, and wear her clothes, it was hard for her to do it herself because of the tubes for dialysis. I used to go with her to her dialysis appointments because she did not speak English, and waited with her until her dialysis was done three hours later.

Though my first pick is with the Dementia and Alzheimer's clients, I have had other clients with other conditions, such as, stroke, diabetes and congested heart failure etc.. In 2011 when my ex mother in law became sick I became one of her caregivers. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed caring for her. I do believe this is my calling. I was once offered a position as manager of a home health company. I did not think I could do that job. I was right because I need to be the caregiver not the office person. I love my job. I like everything about caregiving. I love my seniors. I love their stories and their laughter. I'm happy when they are happy. I look forward everyday to seeing my seniors. I love cooking, cleaning and fussing over my seniors, so I'm a natural at caregiving. Remember if you love what you do it's never a job. My fee starts at $25 an hour. My fee increases if the shift is split. Also would like employer to pay a share of taxes. I am currently working for $24 an hour but I am not so sure that after 36.5 months it's working. So money is not the deciding factor for me. If you are looking for an experienced Alzheimer and or Dementia CNA , I could be the one!
