I've been into nursing and helping people who can not help themselves or even just need very little assistance for more than fifteen years. I started helping my grandmother when I was sixteen years old after she had a stroke. From that moment I knew I had a calling for helping others. I love what I do. I take vital signs, answer call lights, bed making, fetching water and ice for patients, turning and repositioning patients in bed, transferring patients from the bed to a chair or chair to bed. Personal care, grooming as needed, assist patients with bathing like showering, bed baths and partial baths. Prepare pre-op patients for surgical procures, shaving, ambulating with patients, discharging patients, observing and reporting any changes in patients, and computer charting. I assist with keeping patients rooms clutter free. I'm trained on how to use correct body mechanics to prevent injury to myself or patients. I'm trained on how to use mechanical lifts and transferring equipment, like slider boards and stand and sit lifts, hoyer lifts.
