I am a skilled CNA/caregiver for 15 years now. In the past, I've mostly worked with the elderly population in assisted living, long term care facility, private care home, and nursing home. As a CNA, I want to provide as much independence as possible by providing appropriate personal care assistance. I enjoyed helping and making a difference.

I have just completed a year of caring for a 101 year old woman who was a wonder of nature. Some of the time she was as strong as a much younger woman, other times she needed me for everything . She was not native born, so at times it took patience & attentive listening to understand her & sometimes her customs. I don't assume that anothers taste & demands are the same as mine. I consider my job to keep the client as happy and comfortable as possible while keeping them safe and in as good health as possible. In other words I treat them as my own, loved, parent. I keep the house clean, cook nutritious meals to the clients taste as much as possible according to their dietary needs. I help with personal hygiene as the individual needs and will curl hair, trim and paint nails, lotion and massage if client wishes. If capable we will walk outside, and I will help client to do any recommended physical therapy exercises. I can organize and administer medications reliably and order refills as needed. I will take the client to doctor and dental appointments & advise family of the outcome of those visits if requested. I keep a daily log of the days events and recognize changes. I have a years experience of working in the long term care unit of Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, IA. I have also been a scrub nurse in both Iowa & California, but not for many years. I was retired for a number of years before I became an in home care giver. I can give excellent references fro
