About Carla

Caring and serving others has always been a passion of mine. That passion drove me to pursue a career in nursing. Currently, I am twenty years old and enrolled in a nursing program. I have just finished my first semester of my BSN program and have already gained a lot of experience with caring for others in the hospital setting. Due to my completion of the fundamentals of nursing class I am qualified to become a certified nursing assistant. My paperwork for my license is still in progress but I assure you I am qualified to complete any and all tasks just because of the professional training I have received from my nursing program. Why work as a caregiver, you ask? Because I would like to gain experience caring for others in a non-hospital setting. Being accepted into a Bachelor's of Nursing program at such a young age is a personal achievement that I am proud of because it took a lot of work, sacrifice, and perseverance to make it into the program. I completed my first two years of college at a community college. It was a difficult journey and I had to make a lot of sacrifices. I took eighteen units every single semester, took classes over summer breaks, worked a part-time job, stayed involved serving in my church, continuously volunteered at UC Davis Medical Center, and spent all my free time studying to pass all my difficult classes. My name is Margaret and I am actively seeking a caregiving position. I have been with my current client for 3 1/2 years but the time has come to make a change. I am a Dementia and Alzheimer's specialist. I am experienced in Memory Care. Memory Care clients are my favorite people in all of healthcare! Though my first pick is with the Dementia and Alzheimer's clients, I have had other clients with other conditions, such as, stroke, diabetes and congested heart failure etc.. In 2011 when my ex mother in law became sick I became one of her caregivers. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed caring for her. I do believe this is my calling. I was once offered a position as manager of a home health company. I did not think I could do that job. I was right because I need to be the caregiver not the office person. I love my job. I like everything about caregiving. I love my seniors. I love their stories and their laughter. I'm happy when they are happy. I look forward everyday to seeing my seniors. I love cooking, cleaning and fussing over my seniors, so I'm a natural at caregiving. Remember if you love what you do it's never a job. My fee starts at $25 an hour. My fee increases if the shift is split. Also would like employer to pay a share of taxes. I am currently working for $24 an hour but I am not so sure that after 36.5 months it's working. So money is not the deciding factor for me. If you are looking for an experienced Alzheimer and or Dementia CNA , I could be the one!
