I was a 24 hour Caregiver for My disabled son. His disease rendered him a quadriplegic. My son was ventilator dependent, required supplemental oxygen therapy, had heart failure resulting in placement of a pacemaker, was routinely monitored for heart rate, oxygen levels, and blood pressure, had insulin-dependent diabetes, and required a PEG tube for feedings, and medications. I am exceptionally skilled in all aspects of my sons care to include tracheostomy changes, stoma care, and airway suctioning. I have performed PEG tube changes, Kangaroo Pump set-up for feeding, and administered medications via g-tube. Proficient in all aspects of patient care including bowel/bladder care, all ADL activities, bed mobility, transfers, use of a hoyer lift, and wheelchair positioning and mobility. Retired Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with 12 years experience working with all human systems. Experience includes therapeutic exercise, therapeutic massage, wound care, mobility training, and a specialty in pulmonary rehabilitation and wound care.

Though my first pick is with the Dementia and Alzheimer's clients, I have had other clients with other conditions, such as, stroke, diabetes and congested heart failure etc.. In 2011 when my ex mother in law became sick I became one of her caregivers. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed caring for her. I do believe this is my calling. I was once offered a position as manager of a home health company. I did not think I could do that job. I was right because I need to be the caregiver not the office person. I love my job. I like everything about caregiving. I love my seniors. I love their stories and their laughter. I'm happy when they are happy. I look forward everyday to seeing my seniors. I love cooking, cleaning and fussing over my seniors, so I'm a natural at caregiving. Remember if you love what you do it's never a job. My fee starts at $25 an hour. My fee increases if the shift is split. Also would like employer to pay a share of taxes. I am currently working for $24 an hour but I am not so sure that after 36.5 months it's working. So money is not the deciding factor for me. If you are looking for an experienced Alzheimer and or Dementia CNA , I could be the one!
