I grew up watching and helping my mom take care of my step dad. He had suffered a traumatic brain injury at work. When I was too young to understand what Alzheimer's was, my grandma struggled with it and eventually passed. When I got older I wanted to understand what these disabilities were that had such an impact on my life. I took courses and got certified as a CNA/HHA, but let both certificates go because I got a job with sunrise senior living of Sacramento and they didn't require I had them. I've been with them as a reminiscence (memory care) care manager for 6 years. In that time I've completed a medication care manager training and filled in passing meds whenever necessary. I have also filled in as lead care manager at times. Sunrises' mission statement is "To champion the quality of life for all seniors."
