Eight years ago, I took care of adults with mental disabilities, then moved into caring for the elderly three years ago. Although some do not show/express their emotions well, being a detail oriented person helped because I can understand what/how they are "feeling" even with a slight gesture or body language. This ability to connect and be able to communicate is a skill I am proud of as it has made the elderly clients' families request for me to take care of their loved one. With the feedback I get all the time, it made me feel good about myself and inspired me to continue and make a career in the nursing field. I still have a goal to one day become a registered nurse.
