About Emmy

Hello! My name is Emmy and I am planning on applying to medical school. I have 6 years of research experiences, 3 years of volunteer experiences at a hospital, and 4 years of volunteer experiences at a homeless shelter. During my volunteering, I encountered many patients of all ages, particularly for the elderly. I am patient, attentive, compassionate, and an efficient learner. I want to become a caregiver because I want to have one-on-one interactions with patients. In addition, I would like to learn, communicate, and grow as a person. As a caregiver, I believe I will become a better doctor in the future and I cannot wait to embark on this medical journey.

I'm a mother of 5 and grandmother to 10. I've worked as a caregiver for the last 15+ years and counting. I love my clients and working with the elderly. What started out as a job became second nature and probably alot of that has to do with my cultural background. I loved it so much, I paid for my own training and certifications to be an independent caregiver. I got bonded, insured and registered with the state and I have several great references from the loving families of those whom I have cared for over the years. I've had great experiences with those who I have worked for and with, along with learning from wonderful nurses and doctors that I've interacted with during the care of many of my clients. I am very proud of the achievements I've made in taking the initiative to learn as I go with each client, and each client came with various conditions and ailments, and some with multiple conditions. It has been a great journey of growth and connection for me like no other and I find it so fulfilling to be able to help our elderly population in need. They have been all like family.
