About Kristie

I have always enjoyed and felt the need to care for people. My younger brother had brain cancer when he was 8yrs old and I was 17. I was one of the main caregivers for him during his recovery and during his numerous strokes. He lived with me for ten years. Over time his conditioned worsened and he became bedridden and was fed through a G-tube. I was taught CPR, tube feeding, wound care and many other aspects of taking care of a critically ill person. He passed away, recently, and I miss caring for someone. To me, caregiving is very rewarding. I am very sympathetic to what the patient and family are going through, as I went through it myself. I believe I am a very good caregiver in the way that I am not afraid to go the extra mile to add some comfort and happiness in someone's life.

    I was a IHSS caregiver for my brother for 10 years. He suffered a stroke as a very young age and was left disabled by it. Over the years his disability became more severe, as he had a series of mini strokes. When my parents passed away in 2006, I moved him into my house and became his caregiver. In 2014 he suffered respiratory failure. When he came home to my house, he had a G-tube and Foley catheter. I was taught how to maintain both by the RN who came to visit him weekly. My other duties included: Setting up liquid feeding formula, flush feeding tube, administer meds through feeding tube, bathing, range of motion exercises, changing position in bed (he was 100 per cent bed bound), check oxygen rate and administer oxygen, when needed. Also, set up nebulizer, periodically. I also did wound care and flushed the foley catheter.

    I was caregiver for my mother, who had lung cancer and hip surgery. My duties included: giving her meds, bathing, toileting, helping her move from bed to chair, cooking and serving meals, assistance with range of motion exercises, and emotional support.

I respect all rights and will not over step my boundary. I'm a good listener and companion. I became a care giver after taking care of my grandma while she battled with cancer.
