About Jasmine

I'm a kind, compassionate, and patient person. I find that these traits are important to have as a caregiver, as you might be caring for individuals who may be suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's, or who are hurting either physically, and or mentally. Not everyone you work with is going to be having a good day, so its important to think outside of yourself, and really focus on what you can do to help this person. What attracted me to be a caregiver is the responsibility that we are our patients' advocates. I've worked with patients who have little to no family and it can be very difficult, especially if you are ill, to accomplish your activities of daily living and make decisions without that much support. The amount of trust our patients put on us as caregivers isn't to be taken lightly and to be able to make a difference in their lives is truly rewarding. What I enjoy most about caregiving is being able to connect with my patients on a personal level. Getting to know the person, and listening to their stories are the best parts of the job. A personal accomplishment of mine would be having the courage and drive to move to Washington from California. Once I graduated from California State University Channel Islands in 2015, I decided to start a new life here in Washington. This required leaving everything that was familiar behind and starting fresh. It was a challenging but exciting and rewarding experience. Everything from the people I've met, to the work I've done, has had a profound impact in shaping me as a person. I wouldn't be who I am today, had I not braved the unknown.
