I became a caregiver about 8 years ago and 1 of the main reasons was because of my niece who is special needs. I saw how much attention and care she needed just for her everyday routine and I knew from there I wanted to help more people like her. What makes me a good caregiver is that I'm not shy and I know how to start a conversation with just about anyone. I feel like it's important to have great communication skills when coming to people because a lot of elderly at the end of the day just want someone to talk to and make them feel comfortable. I enjoy helping my residents with their day to day life because even though you do something so small for them, they are so grateful. It just goes to show that a little goes a very long way.
