I was a full time live-in caregiver 4 years tending my father who developed BPH and dementia. Responsible for all activities of daily living included cooking, cleaning and housekeeping. Duties included assistance is feeding, bathing, and all physical activities. Monitored his physical and mental well being and reported to various medical personnel. Responsible for medication administration, catheter care, brief changing and monitoring of UT infections. Transported to medical appointments, family gatherings and daily walks near the ocean. Constant positive reassurance to combat his depression and incorporated his past hobbies into our daily activities. After he passed away I returned to college to pursue a career as a caregiver. I completed all prerequisite courses necessary for various RN programs. Cumulative GPA of 3.92. I was accepted into Concordia University’s Accelerated Nursing program in January 2012 and completed one third of it before stepping out due to its overwhelming demand. Completed ROP long-term care nurses assistant program that included 100 hours of clinic at Terrance View Care Center in Fullerton, CA. Received Nurses Assistant certificate on 11/15/12.
