My personal expertise that's help me be a great caregiver is ; * always stay positive, even when Resident is in destress *be open minded, put myself in their shoes *cleanliness is a big key to health *do what you can to keep them comfortable *if they are sad, upset, give then a shoulder to lean on *do plenty of activities with them so they have something to look forward to doing in their day;coloring,cooking,cleaning,movies,feeding animals, going on walks, reading books, What attracted me to be a care giver was my mother in law; I was the only on out of the whole family who ever assisted her with her emergency personal need, bathing toileting, running errands, doctors appointments etc. And I enjoyed every moment with her. What I enjoy most of a caregiver is; hearing the stories of their lives, their laughs, them in general, feeling like I'm making their day as best as they can have it and taking their minds off the bad things in life. A personal achievement I am proud of is having the time, patience, and understanding of the cycle of life (put myself in their shoes) and learned that there is always time for new and positive memories
