My name is Barbara Duus. I am a native of Colorado and have been married 30yrs. I have lived in my current home for 28years. I have over 40 years of caregiver experience. My goal as a caregiver is to keep one thriving in their own home; to spoil them; to provide a safe, nurturing, loving relationship and companionship. The individual I care for will feel special and loved. They will feel happiness, joy, contentment, balanced, engaged, and comforted. I am a caregiver because this is where I find my fulfillment in life. I started caring for my grandma, "Nano," when I was 13 years old. She was confined to a recliner chair.I will never forget those days with her. I knew then, I had found my calling in life. Aside from that, I am especially proud of the hospice care I have provided. I am creative, "old school," compassionate, honest, organized, patient and very empathetic to my clients needs. I became a caregiver so I could give back to my community and people. I like being a caregiver because I can provide help and meet the required needs. When I see a smile on my client's face, this lets me know that the person is satisfied and pleased. One of my achievements is becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. I am also certified as a Leasing Consultant. I'm currently enrolled in school online for Billing and coding. I'm a wonderful mother too! I have two beautiful, great kids, and I'm a devoted , dedicated, loyal, responsible, understanding, compassionate, fun, and loving person. Have always had a respect and admiration for our elderly. Helping, seeing them smile and laugh makes me smile. I have spent 20 years in the health field arena. Seventeen of those in clinical research as a coordinator. For 12 years I have worked part time as a caregiver, evenings and weekends , providing companionship, an awareness of medical needs, spiritual inspiration, planned activities and hospice care. I have certificates and training in CPR, Alzheimer's, Professional Caregiver Education, Advanced CareGiver Training, medical terminology and phlebotomy. I have been blessed to do the thing i love the most, caring for others! I have been a caregiver most of my life in one way or another. In the last six years I have been caregiving/personal assisting for some very wonderful people and their families. I am a loving, patient, kind person with a heart for people and their circumstances. I do all that i can to make the person i am caring/assisting for feel comfortable and at ease knowing that they are in capable hands.
Some of the things i do, but not limited to, are: Cooking, light housekeeping, errand running, grocery shopping, Dr appts, basically if i see a need... i do it!! I am a self motivated, upbeat and positive person that loves to smile and bring a smile to the faces ive been blessed to be part of. Hope to hear from you!
