Actually, I am a Registered Nurse. Characteristics: dependable, honest, independent, optimistic, hard-working, encouraging, a problem solver, a good listener and communicator. I became interested in health care when I was 10 years old and in the hospital over Christmas having had an emergency appendectomy. My mom worked for a doctor (earning $1 an hour) and was always telling us about interesting cases and teaching us strange sounding medical terminology. Most of my nursing career was in a Medical Intensive Care Unit at Ohio State University Medical Center. After that exciting career, I started working in Home Health in 2008. I enjoy working 1 on 1 with my clients, offering encouragement, seeing that they are receiving proper care, and hearing their life stories.

I am going on my third year of college, and my third college as well. I am finishing up my surgical nursing degree at Marion Technical College with a Surgical Technician certification and a phlebotomy certification as well. I have spent time in caring for my grandmother while she was in and out of the hospital, and I will provide compassionate care to those who need. My job as a future nurse is to provide comfort and love to patients varying different health conditions. My ideal job profession in the future is to work in hospice as well. When I was younger, I had a heart disease and my life-long goal is to give back to nurses and patients with 110% passionate and sympathetic care.

For me, being a caregiver isn't just a career. It's my calling in life. I feel as though it's what I was put here to do. My very first job at age 18 was as a caregiver for a lady with MS. I cared for her as a live in for nearly three years with one day off weekly. I then moved to direct care for disabled individuals and have accumulated several years experience. I am certified in first aid/ CPR, medication administration, insulin trained, and have a wide path of experience to fall back on. I was also caregiver for my mother for five years until she passed from ALZ. I am currently attending college studying Human and Social Services to better provide for those I work with and for. I believe that being a caregiver requires a special individual, just as special as those I care for. I have always felt that the individuals I have met and worked with have each been a blessing in their own way and I am the lucky one for having them in my heart and life. I view my clients as family, nothing less. I am dedicated, sincere, patient, full of good humor, not easily upset, and my greatest joy is making others happy. That's the biggest benefit of all. I became a Caregiver after I attended college as a Human Services student. I knew I always wanted to provide care to others and my time at college showed me I needed to pursue another direction other than college. I want to help others by providing one on one care and to enable them to be as independent as they possibly can at the same time. When I can assist people by cooking, cleaning or encouraging people it warms my heart to be able to do so. I enjoy helping others. I have professional and personal cleaning and caregiving experience.

I feel I am a great caregiver because I have all my life cared for ones; beginning with being the middle of seven children I was responsible for caring for those under me and then into marriage; I cared for 4 children. After my divorce I continued caring for my four children at the same time living with my elderly grandmother of 93, who had Aleizmiers and her sister, 88 who had breast cancer. Working closely with different agencies including Hospice, I was able to give them the quality care they deserved for as long as I was able to do so. I also have a friend who has MS and she lived right across the hallway from me and I have over the last four years enjoyed helping and caring for her. I have a heart for the hurting and disable. I understand the challenges involved in caring for them and would like to pursue a career in this field. What I like about being a caregiver is being able to make them smile, to remove for a season of time the reality of their present state and help them see a lighter side to life. I combine care with comedy and wit and make what is work - now relationship. When I came to take care of my grandmother she was pretty unrespondent to everyone. After about a month there, she would talk more and she began singing. She still didn't know who I was, but her who demeanor had changed and she was more pleasant and cooperative. I love caring for people, you can learn so much from them. I have met so many wonderful people and about their lives. I have done care since 1998, nursing home, assisted living and private care. I am proud when I can meet all their needs.

I became a caregiver because its my passion to take care of others. The best part of being a caregiver is that making sure the person that can't take of themselves are well taken care.
