I believe I have good instincts to provide safety, comfort, understanding and I have been professionally trained as a CNA/CHHA. I'm flexible when there are schedule changes. I will treat you with respect and dignity. Mindful of privacy. Conscientious of time management to complete duties. Considerate to know the way you prefer, to have things taken care of, in your daily care needs.
One day, I woke up and had a calling, then I began caring for Developmentally Disabled people. Later on, I met someone who suggested, to obtain a CNA certification, so I can help more people. I experience much gratitude, in helping people in all kinds of circumstances.
I find it interesting with the many opportunities, to enjoy meeting and caring for people, from all walks of life. I can utilize my abilities, skills, observations and responses to assure good quality care for families.
My personal achievement that I'm proud of is becoming a certified Massage Therapist and opening my own business.
I've worked as a nurse assistant over 16 yrs caring for disabled, elderly, ill, and mentally challenged clients. I have worked in nursing home, hospital, home care, senior facility, respite care, private duty, direct care service, and hospice care, and trained in massage.
I like to challenge myself as a caregiver with promoting new work skills. My time is giving care to others, that cannot do for themselves. My achievement is to see my three children succeed in the life that values them. For myself, to be recognized for my work performance, that's giving to each individual that has been cared for, show appreciation. I had several resident tell me that I'm wonderful, and I had a tearful moment. It's a blessing to hear positive thinking from a client. Basic food preparation: preparing meals, shopping, housekeeping, laundry, and other errands
General health care: overseeing medication and prescriptions usage, appointment reminders and administering medicine
Mobility assistance: help with getting in and out of a wheelchair, car or shower
Personal supervision: providing constant companionship and general supervision
Transportation: driving to and from activities, running errands, and help getting in and out of wheelchair-accessible vehicle
Emotional support: being a stable companion and supporter in all matters personal, health-related and emotional
Care for the elderly: orienting or grounding someone with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, relaying information from a doctor to family members
Back-up care (or respite) services: providing other caregivers a break
Home organization: help with organizing, packing or cleaning for a trip, or general house care and cleaning
Health monitoring: following a care plan and noticing any changes in the individual's health, recording and reporting any differences I prefer weekend shifts or overnight
