I have 30 years of experience in providing personal in-home care for disabled, cognitively impaired, chronically ill, and hospice patients. I assist patients with daily personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. I monitor patients' vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration. I am a thoughtful and considerate person who takes pride in providing the best care possible. I became a caregiver through the influence of my great aunt and grandmother as they were the neighborhood caregivers. I watched them as a child and knew I wanted to do the same thing. I began by taking care of my grandmother when she became home bound in her older age. For the past three years, I was the care taker for my mother after she suffered a stroke. The thing I enjoy the most is feeling a sense of joy and humility in assisting those in need in conducting their activities of daily living. They are so appreciative. I consider it a personal achievement when they recover and there is no further need of my services. That confirms that my work with them has improved their quality of life.

I became a caregiver first and foremost for the flexibility of the the job. When my kids were younger, this career gave me the opportunity to be home with them and work nights. I moved on to becoming an Administrative Assistant for more than 18 years. I was laid off from my job due to the last recession and I jumped back on my skills to continue giving care to the elderly. I was a valuable support for my clients, helping then with all the activities of their daily living, I cooked and served meals, I assisted with medications, I shopped for food and personal items, I provided transport/ accompanied clients to doctor's appointments. I was with one of my clients last year and realized that she needed to go to the hospital. I called the emergency service and stayed with her at the hospital till the family made alternative arrangement. When she was later discharged, I stayed and cared for her till she passed. I have now become a trusted friend of the family.

I have compassion for people and i have firsthand experience. I have my son who is 25 and autistic and still lives with me putting him in a home is not an option. I understand that people always choose to stay in their homes over a nursing home. I love people and my goal is making them comfortable and happy.
