I have a lot of compassion for the elderly and anybody that actually needs help in home What attracted me to caretaking was that I cared for my grandma that had dementia and other issues for three and a half years I love being able to do the one-on-one with people it just gives them more sense of the feeling that they're actually cared about it's hard to get that in a facility I am very proud of the person I've become I have a lot of compassion I'm willing to go above and beyond for any family it just makes me feel like a better person

Being a caregiver was instilled within myself from a young age. Growing up I had an elderly grandmother, in which I helped take care of. It just came naturally to me. I enjoy being a companion or a listening ear for her made me smile. So I have always looked at being a caregiver is just helping those who needed me. Making sure that ate or remembered to take the medications is vital for those who has limited mobility or early dementia or those that just need that extra reminder. My goal in life is to get a degree in Health Information Technology. I have worked in various areas in health care but my specialty is working with Alzheimer's and Dementia patients! Some of the skills I have accumulated include; dementia trainer, CPI certified, CPR, And CBRF certified( medication administration & fire safety).

My name is Kris. I am a mother of four children. I have been doing caregiving in a variety of settings for over 17 years. I have worked in assisted living, hospital, hospice and nursing home. I did private in home care for my grandmother also before she passed. Taking care of her was actually the first experience I had with caregiving. I really enjoy the one on one time with people and getting to know them. I also love knowing that I have helped someone in some way on any given day. Even if it is nothing more than running to the store for them. I love to see the smiles on peoples faces when they are happy and content or have someone else to talk to. I have learned so much from the people I have cared for over the years. I have also made amazing friends. The personal achievement that I am proud of is that I have instilled in my children that at some point in everybodies life they need some help. It does not matter who they are or where they are from, they are still people who need a little assistance.

In high school I took the program for CNA classes, to help others as I did for my grandmother before I lost her at the age of 15. I'm quiet, and I keep to myself, but I'm a caring person. I get my work done, and if I can I will work over my time if needed. I love most about being a CNA is that I can help other's when they can't help themselves, and knowing I can make a difference in their life. I have been working as a CNA for many years and have four children and as much as I love doing this I had made the decision to go back to school in the health field, so I can further my self in helping others. I want to be able to understand how they feel, what they love and what they dislike. Most of my job is hands on and that's what I love most, however there is other things that people need and that is for someone to talk to, and I don't think us CNA's get enough time to know our patients. That's why I'm going back to school.
