Hi, I'm Shawna, \"What makes me a great caregiver?\" I've raised six amazing children as a single mother and after 20 years of helping people feel good about themselves in the beauty industry, I took on the role of my 92 year old grandmother's caregiver. I cared for her for two years and I feel I've found my calling. I am, by nature, a very nurturing person so I'm in my element as a caregiver. I have excellent work ethics, I'm organized and very easy to get along with. I have a great respect for the elderly because they have paved the way for me and my children. I only pray that when my time comes, my children will take as good a care of me.

I am a trusted and professional person who could readily adjust, learn and communicate, patient and persevering in dealing with people. I'd like to be of service to the elderlies and families who needs somebody to take care of them and treat them as my own relative or a new friend. I began my caregiven duties, with my mother back in 2014, she got sick and I began caregiving for her until she died in 2018, I began caregiving for my grandmother who passed away in 2019 it was a very rough ride for me, I learned a lot especially from my grandmother who was an RN before her passing. I knew then I had a heart for the work and I continue to do caregiving. My specialties are working with the Elders. I do have experience working with the hospice patience.

Besides experience and knowledge I acquired from nursing school, helping others has always been my passion. I find joy and fulfillment knowing I make a difference in someone else's life. I am patient and willing to adjust to the needs of my clients. I try to put myself in their shoes, to try and understand them. I treat my patients with love and respect, and with dignity, just like how I would want to be treated if I was in their same situation. Since I was a young age, I have always been interested in helping other people. I enjoy helping others who have trouble helping themselves especially the elderly. I completed my vocational nursing studies in 2012 and it was at that point I realised that helping people is my calling. I love that being a caregiver, you can make a difference. It's a rewarding experience providing care and assistance to those who are no longer able to do so and to know that I have done my job right when I see smiles on their faces. The moments that make me most proud of as a care giver is when I see my patients doing well, seeing their happy faces.

So therefore for me taking care of our elderly has been the most rewarding experience because I have learn so much and truly love what I do.
