Like a lot of people who are caregivers I started out taking care of a loved one, who was suffering from Lupus and Heart Disease. She was a retired nurse who was full of knowledge and more than happy to pass it on to me during the ten years I took care of her. I found that not only was I a very good caregiver but that I actually enjoyed it and found it very fulfilling! I think one of the most important things I learned while caring for seniors is that even though they may need help with many different things, some of which are very personal, they are still an adult not a child. I've found people appreciate that, I know I would if the situation was reversed. My second ten years in this business have been helping wonderful people who have found themselves in need of quality care. Their conditions have included Diabetes, Parkinson, Strokes, Dementia and Alzheimer's and other ailments. Some have just needed a little help and companionship. I was very happy that I could be there for them and make a difference in their day with whatever level of care they needed, and to help the family feel confident that their loved one had someone competent and caring to depend on. My personality traits are how up beat I am. How I started to become a caregiver was because Of my own mother through her stomach surgery. The thing I like best about being a caregiver is giving someone happyness in there lives. What I am proud of is how i Graduated high school with a certified nursing assistant certification meaning how I could start work right after high school.

I have been in the healthcare field for most of my life and have always had compassion and understanding for people in their time of need. It seems when family members and friends are in need of care I am the one they call to attend to their needs. I have taken care of a few family members with terminal illnesses in the past, I guess it is just my calling. In those times I did have a great deal of interaction with hospice as well as Doctors when attending to their personal needs as well as their medication needs. I have had quite a few years of experience dealing with the elderly as well in a nursing home environment when I worked as a lab technician and did home calls as well. I have had my own business in the past but It seems I am always drawn back to the care giving arena. I did at one time return to college for further advancement to the RN level which at this time I am looking into as well. I feel I would be an excellent candidate for this position and would devote my whole self to the needs of my patient in giving them the best quality of life they deserve.
