I am Virginia Board Certified Nursing Assistant with over five years of home health and assisted living care. After raising four children I returned to school and became certified as a Home Health Aid, Nursing Assistant as well as Phlebotomy Tech. I believe that everyone has the right to quality care, and an advocate to ensure they are treated with dignity and respect. Raising four children has taught me that one must always use and implement active listening skills as well as expect the unexpected. My passion for health care comes from years of experience as a mother, wife and caregiver to family and friends.
Skills & Certifications: Hospice Care, Home Health Care, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), Medical Assistant (MA), Hearing Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, COPD, Cardiovascular Disorders, Blood Disorders, Cancer Recovery, Arthritis, Alzheimer's Disease, Neurological Disorders, Palliative Care, Parkinson's Disease, Orthopedic Care, Post Surgery Recovery, Respiratory Disorders, Skin Disorders, Renal and Urological Disorders, Stroke, Vision and Eye Disorders

I started Caregiving over 25 years ago. I have always enjoyed assisting clients. I have worked in home health care, private duty, and caregiving facilities. My roles included caregiver, Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A), Med Tech and Supervisor, and Nursing Assistant Educator. Due to my passion for caregiving, I became a Registered Nurse in 2012. As a registered Nurse, I traveled to patients' homes, wrote Care Plans, and trained and tested Nursing Assistants. I have spent the last few years homeschooling and raising my children. I miss caregiving and ready to start my career again. Even though I am Registered Nurse, I am interested in a caregiver role. I want to spend time with my clients. I enjoy helping clients where needed, while understanding independence is essential. I love the development of a relationship with my clients and families in whatever way they build. My personality includes empathy, patience, and kindness. I like to be on time and take my work seriously. When I am not caregiving, I enjoy paddle boarding, skating, hiking, camping, guitar, and life.
Skills & Certifications: Alzheimer's Disease, Hospice Care, Registered Nurse (RN), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Cardiovascular Disorders, Diabetes, Gastrointestinal Disorders

Hi my name is April. I have worked in this field since I was 15 I knew then that I loved taking care of people and that people loved me. I always have a good personality and a smile on my face. I took care of my grandfather at home until he passed away and also both of my parents. My father became paralyzed after a hunting trip and I brought him home and took care of him that's how I learned trach care and feeding tube care. And currently I have an uncle who has a mass in his throat and I've been taking care of him at home since last December he also has a trach and a feeding tube. I have always stepped up and brought my family members home to care for instead of being placed in a nursing home. There I know they always are short staffed and patients can't get the care they need like they can at a home setting with just one aide.

Expert caregiver with over 10 years experience providing caring supervision and assistance with ADLS/IADLS to clients/residents of varying ages in facilities and within the home. While I enjoyed my time in the facilities and became very close to some of my residents, I prefer the home setting where my clients have been most comfortable because they were in familiar surroundings. I have created long lasting meaningful relationships with not only the ones I cared for, but the families as well because I believe in treating other's family members the way I would expect my own to be treated. And because I have been on both sides of the fence, I can see it from both sides meaning, I have the experience from a personal and professional standpoint. I became interested in being a caregiver while helping out my stepdad's mom and then later helping my mom who was a RN at the time take care of my stepdad before he passed. Later I moved and needed a job but didn't have the time to invest in a long term class so decided to go with the quickest thing at the time and became a CNA. That was 14 years ago and I've been doing it every since. Throughout these years I've met and worked with a lot of interesting people, most who have since passed, but I remained with until the families decided they no longer wanted to keep them in the home for one reason or another and then I was on to my next one never forgetting the one that came before them. I enjoy my job because of the people that I have been lucky enough to come in contact with. I hear stories from other people about their clients and I say to myself, I haven't had those issues. I have never had a client that I did not get along with or just could not tolerate. My clients made it easy to enjoy going to work everyday and not look at it as just a job because I never made them feel like they didn't have a choice or a say in what was going on. I always made sure they knew they still had options everyday.
