About Patricia

I initially got into caregiving following my mother's stroke. I cared for her in our home for as long as I could until she had a fire at home. At that time I admitted her to Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Superior NE, which is when I began to become a CNA. Prior to that time I had been a nursing assistant at Brodstone Memorial Hospital and a contracted employee for the State of Nebraska providing in-home assistance with laundry, meal preparation, transportation, shopping and companionship. I have held a variety of jobs from clerical, customer service and law enforcement dispatching, but I always get the most satisfaction from knowing I have helped someone. I am proud of the technical knowledge I have gained through the nursing assistant, medication aide and law enforcement communication training I have received.

Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home

I worked as a night shift CNA, as part of a team, to perform nightly rounds every 2 hours for the residents, plus assigned duties of wheelchair cleaning, razor & hairbrush/comb cleaning, restocking linens & other supplies, answering call lights. Another time I worked for Good Samaritan Society was in the facility in Nelson, NE (which has since been closed). I obtained my CNA on my own, without tuition or book reimbursement prior to this employment. Previously I had worked at Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior NE as a nursing assistant. The hospital had their own training program and certification was not required. In addition, prior to any nursing assistant work I was the evening shift cook, responsible for the evening kitchen staff.
