About Stephanie

I had no plans or intensions going into the healthcare support field until I moved to Montrose, CO. I couldn't get an office job so I was told about Firstlight Home Care. Turns out I enjoyed getting to know all my clients. And it felt even better when the office had me come in to ask me why all the clients I've met are calling in and requesting me. We had a list of tasks we were allowed or expected to do and it included pet care. Most of the other staff would refuse to do the pet care part. I love animals and the reason we're there is to HELP them and make their lives easier. I did whatever they wanted or asked me to do as long as it wouldn't physically hurt me or wasn't illegal. I was nice to them and listened to how they wanted things done.

I worked in a group home with 7 adults with special needs. We helped the clients with what they wanted or needed. And we got them up and showered, made breakfast, passed medications (I am QMAP certified), got them to their day program. We cooked, cleaned, made or changed their beds, did their laundry, assisted the clients with bathing or showering, we'd apply or help them apply their creams/powders and we helped them with whatever they needed or wanted.

Went to client's homes and cooked, cleaned, did laundry, shopped for groceries or took them shopping, pet care, plant care and at times we were "sitters" we would keep them company or kept them distracted from going after other residents (mostly in memory care facilities). We also went to hospitals to sit with patients on suicide watch or to help the patients that were high fall risks to get out of bed safely.
