I grew up without grandparents. I have seen how the elderly can get mis treated and abused because they are so vulnerable. I love being around older people . I have a passion for taking care of the elderly. I've always been a very active person my whole life and taking care of them warms my heart, keeps me young and on my toes. They have so much knowledge and wisdom about life through there experiences . I currently am a caregiver for a older couple who have been married for 65 years . I've been with them for over 3 years now. I absolutely love them like if they were my own grandparents. And they love me just the same. I always treat my clients as if they were my own family . Because one day I myself am going to need the time and attention that I do give to my clients now. Do the elderly want to be dependent on someone else . Absolutely not and it does affect there emotions. But showing them patience and love and kindness will go along way with them. Being a care giver is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had. When your client looks at you and tells you they love you . They're saying it because they truly want to not because they have too. I am also a certified nursing assistant. I also familiar with incontinence and exporting . All ADLs , medication distribution, cooking and cleaning ,bathing dressing and grooming. I can run errands . I can transport to docs appts . I'm also familiar with wound care. And using hoist lifts . I love to make people smile and feel good about themselves and it makes me feel good about myself .
