I am a joyful optimist. I am attentive, trustworthy and dependable. I appreciate the opportunity to provide patient, tender hearted care to vulnerable aging people. I have chosen to become a caregiver because I desire meaningful employment. I enjoy being a strong source of support and encouragement to individuals and families in need. I am personable and enjoy being a home care provider. I became a caregiver because I wanted to help others by assisting them with their activities of daily living. I enjoyed caring for many seniors over the years and learned quite a lot from them. I believe I'm a great caregiver because I have had extensive training in a skilled nursing facility as well as in many private homes. I also enjoy seeing the difference that I often make in people's lives. I became a nursing assistant back in 1982 and acquired my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license at the convalescent hospital where I worked. I then went on to work for several home care agencies and acquired my Certified Home HeaIth Aide (CHHA) license. I have worked as an independent contractor caregiver for years. I am willing to commute for full-time employment. I have great references and will be happy to submit them upon request.

I am a retired Caregiver with over 35 years of experience. I acquired my experience by working in Hospitals, Home Care Agencies, as a Private Caregiver and Caregiving for family members. My Mother steered me in this direction when I was around 8 years old, by having me help her older friend that was just discharged from the hospital & Caregiving has been my calling since. As we age and live by ourselves, it's not as easy to take care of ourselves & we may need some helping hands, that are trustworthy, to remain in our home. I am a very upbeat and happy person. I love to make people smile, laugh and enjoy life. I am kind, patient, dependable, honest, trustworthy, gentle, hard working, intelligent, compassionate, understanding, and have a great sense of humor. I love animals, all of them! My favorite place to be is outdoors, primarily hiking and swimming. I truly enjoy meeting new people. I also love spending time with my family, friends, and pets. I enjoy reading, writing, board and card games, movies, cleaning, cooking. When my fraternal grandmother entered a care home when I was 12, I went to visit her every day. I was shocked to see how many elderly patients had no one who visited them. So I unofficially became a volunteer and would visit other residents; reading to them, talking, playing games, dancing, whatever brought a little joy back into their lives. Caregiving has been a part of my life ever since. I took care of my maternal grandmother who had severe rheumatoid arthritis and Dementia in her home until she passed away. I then moved my mother in with me when she was first diagnosed with Alzheimers and cared for her until her death 10 years later. I also cared for one of my brothers who was diagnosed with end stage Dementia at the age of 58 and passed away right before his 61st birthday. So I completely understand what loved ones must go through as family members become older, sick, or suffer from an injury. What I enjoy most about being a Caregiver is simply helping someone who needs it, especially if it allows them to remain in their own home. A personal achievement that I am proud of is raising such loving, kind, respectful, and amazing children.

From a young age I've been caring for others - siblings, family members, neighbors, in-home childcare and candy-striping. Professionally, I was a Caregiver for a time at a local assisted living facility and entered the world of in-home care in 2019. In-home caregiving fills the needs of my clients but also a need in myself. I've tried other professions but just didn't find it to be as fulfilling. One of my clients who has worked with several care providers over the years told me that I'm just wired for home care. He said that some people do this for work while others do it as in inner calling. I think that fits. I'm a quick learner. I'm patient and attentive. I'm dedicated, reliable, and trustworthy. I'm a clear communicator and a good listener. I have an intuitive side that helps me assess when it's time to slow down or wait. I believe in client-centered care; encouraging independence where possible and gently supporting where not. I truly enjoy this work and have a positive attitude. I've assisted people with advanced disabilities, various forms of dementia, recovering from injuries or surgery, navigating end of life, and those needing help with basic household tasks.
