Hi, my name is Vanessa Phillips. I am a mother of two, a daughter (8) and a son (3). I have been a Certified Nursing Assistant for 8 years now. I have worked in pretty much every area of my field such as geriatrics, hospice, home care, assisted living, and so on. I love the Nursing field and will be continuing my career as I got accepted into LLCC's ADN program beginning this Fall. I have worked so hard for this opportunity and hope to become an RN in 2023 after graduation and passing my boards. I am very passionate about Nursing and I believe this shows in my work and everyday life. I have a mothering, patient nature about myself and love to care for others by being helpful, promoting independence, and making great differences in their lives. I am a hardworking, team player, but I also prefer to be on a one on one basis with clients as I tend to provide quality care and attention to them because that is usually what most seek, companionship. I enjoy perfecting my craft and can't wait to become a great Nurse one day.

I'm a very caring person and like to go above and beyond for a client when possible. I care about the elderly, as I took care if my mom for 10 yrs in her home and have worked in the nursing home environment for 13 years and learned so much even though I wasn't a CNA. I enjoy making their life in their home as comfortable and pleasant as possible. I'm am proud I stepped up to become a field supervisor to ensure the care they deserve.

I'm a very caring patient person. I love to talk about anything that is interesting which is everything. I love to make peoples lives easier and fun. I have a lot of experience with caring for people. I enjoy bringing a smile and good conversation to any situation that comes my way. I volunteer as a Boy Scout leader for my local Boy Scout Troop. Giving back to the community is fun and exciting.

What makes me a great caregiver: I became a CNA at a young age, which gave me lots to learn about caring for someone that needed spezilised care. I learn how my clients like things done and I do the best I can for them. I give 110% in everything I do. Why did I become a caregiver: I became a caregiver because I realized that I could connect with the disabled or the seniors to a degree to understand what they need and how they want task completed. Its important to allow somebody to have their choice in how they live their lives. What do you like about being a caregiver: I greatly enjoy sitting down with a client and learning about how they grew up, and what they enjoyed doing with their time. Most people don't like doing the "dirty work" that comes with being a CNA but it gives me pleasure to know that I helped that person have a better day or helped them look how they would like. I enjoy boosting self-esteem because it greatly impacts how a persons health is. What is a personal achievement you're proud of: I'm proud of myself when I can handle a difficult situation that most people would give up in. I can handle stressful situations with an excellent attitude which allows me and the client to connect. I think its most important when a client trust you, it makes their day go by easier and it helps me to get to know them on a better note.

I have been certified twice , I took class for the handicapped and also went to school for the elderly. I talk to them first so their comfortable with me and I just as ask," what would you like for me to do for you today". You would be surprised at what little things they want to make them happy. I always treat them the way I would want to be treated when I reach their age. Knowing that their happy when I leave is the best achievement I could ever ask for.
