I went to Ivy Tech to get my Cna license so I could work as a home health aide. I've enjoyed helping people stay in there home. I have a great attention to detail. I'm very proud that I was with the same company for 12yrs. My biggest achievement has been venturing into private care and learning new skills . most people enjoy talking to me and feel at ease when I'm working with them .

While the tasks of each service might differ, the goal for all types of care remains the same: To enhance the lives of seniors and their families. I help seniors cope with their condition while maximizing their capabilities I can help meet a variety of care needs related to Alzheimer's disease, dementia, arthritis, Parkinson's, diabetes, depression, and other conditions. I have over 10 yrs of experience caring for seniors and their families. I have provide the highest quality of care--the kind of care we would want for our own parents, spouse or grandparents. I am committed to not just capable care, but compassionate care and along with Companionship that we all need. Here are some basic caregiver job responsibilities: Change linens and make beds Prepare and plan meals (including clean-up) Help with walking and light exercise Plan ahead for future meals, check expiration dates on food Do laundry (may include light ironing) Light housekeeping duties (such as vacuuming and dusting) Assist with dressing, grooming and bathing Take out the trash Run small errands (pick up prescriptions, go to the bank, etc.) Remind when to take medications Engage in mental and physical exercises Escort to appointments (doctor, physical therapy, hair salon, etc.) Organize mail and maintain a schedule/calendar Escort to religious services Engage in regular activities (talking, games, etc.) Provide companionship Record daily care notes Make note of any significant changes in the client to the agency/service

From the moment I graduated high school, all I have wanted to do is take care of people. I have 13 years experience as an EMT, 22 years experience working on homecare, 2 years experience in surgery, and 7 years experience in Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, Throat specialty). I also have over 2 years experience teaching both the administrative and clinical sides of the Medical Assisting program. I love taking care of people and working independently. The satisfaction I feel knowing I made a difference in someone's life is invaluable to me. I love all of my career choices. Together, all of my experience has made me a very patient, knowledgeable, and well-rounded health care professional.
