I like to be there for someone that cannot care for themselves because it is not easy to live a life like this when you cannot do things for yourself that you may have once been able to and cannot now. I have been caregiving since the year 2000 and just have a compassion for people. I am a certified medical assistant and also earned a certificate of phlebotomy. I am currently working toward my associates degree and have one semester left to complete. I plan in the near future to take classes to be a licensed practical nurse. I have 5 kids that are ages 17 to 23. I have a chiweenie named neeko that is 4 and he thinks he is a real baby and so spoiled.

Hello. (I am just starting out with Carelinx )I have been a caregiver pretty much my whole life. My first child was born with a host of health issues as well as ASD and extreme ADHD. Professionally I've been doing it for about 5 years. I started taking care of my father as he aged and provided his hospice care. Then I did it professionally after his death for a friend who hired me because I know how to navigate the va health system. I then started it professionally after relocating to MO. The thought rose up in me when my mother began to show signs of Dementia. We developed a bond that was very close and comforting for both of us. Since then every client is family and every challenge is so worth it! I think I was born to be a caregiver. I think that trust is the most important aspect of my profession. I have learned to be rigorous about making sure things are always where you put them. I don't look in cupboards or drawers unless I have permission to do so. If a client has faith in me they will exercise and eat and walk more readily. I am certified CMA (I am able to pass medications legally) and up to date on my CPR and First Aid Certifications. I think I am most proud (and grateful) for my ability to make clients feel protected and valued.

I've worked with people of all diversities from school age to old age. I worked at Daybreak an adult daycare while my sons were little and enjoyed the adults that attended the day facility. I also drove them home each night and helped them into their homes. On Saturdays we would drive around and provide them lunch. Many of the older people at the facility were unable to cook. My mother is getting older and needing care so I've learned a lot.
