I was the caregiver/caretaker for both of my parents. In the beginning, my mom had several, health issues. I thought at the time, I would get involve and take her to her doctors appointments and learn all I could to encourage and to better able to assist her, in living healthier. So we changed her diet and I helped her in preparing meals and other activities. Several years later, my mom was diagnosed with dementia. I didn't know then, the rolls of mother and daughter would change. For the next 18 years, I became her full-time caregiver. Although; it was extremely overwhelming at times, I knew no one would ever take care of mom like I would. Moreover; my personal achievement in taking care of her and preparing meals; she did not succumb to any of the complications of diabetes, which happens to many people with the disease. Although my dad didn't have as many health issues as my mom, he was older. He didn't have dementia and he lived to the age of 94. I'm dependable, patient and very compassionate.
