After being in the veterinary field for 20 years, I've gained a level of comfortability with all things clinical and medical. I adore the elderly and have experience with Alzheimer patients and those with dementia. I have worked with both children and adults with developmental disabilities and during the course of this work I was able to maintain patience and empathy. I was attracted to the idea of care giving as I enjoy helping others achieve a higher quality of life as well as offering comfort and companionship. I am an active treating clinician in my primary job as an outpatient physical therapist/supervisor, with additional experience working in the inpatient setting. My background provides me with bed mobility, transfers, and gait training, in addition to proficiency in exercise programs. I am passionate and enthusiastic about what I do. I love taking care of people. I became a care giver to be able to take care of people whose loved ones where far or stretched and needed an extra pair of hands. Meeting new people, getting to know them and being able to help them with their basic needs gives me satisfaction. One of my achievements was being able to care for a depressed client who after sometime started liking getting out of bed in the morning; I read to them and often took short walks with them. The small things make a difference in the lives of the people we care for.

Ever since freshman year in high school, I have always wanted to do something that related to the medical field. First it was orthopedics and then pharmacy. I did not know that my mind would change to care giver until my junior year. I took a health science technology class starting my junior year. It was a two year class. Junior year was more focused on anatomy and physiology and Senior year we got to decide which path we wanted to go down. I chose the LNA path. I have always wanted to help people and going towards this path seemed like a sure-fire way to get there. I loved doing my clinicals at the two nursing homes near my school. It was an amazing experience. Knowing that I can help someone get through their day a little easier meant the world to me. Almost six years after graduating high school, I am still doing what I love and taking care of the people that need it the most.

I had all of my grandparents into my 20's and my grandparents lived next to us. my father's mother was 99 and I saw her at least three times a week until the day she sadly left us. I am still lucky enough to have 1 grandmother left. and my 3 children have been able to know her...
