my name is Yolande. I live in Groton. CT. I'm currently a student nurse at TRCC about to graduate this May. I have taken care of all age groups and have enjoyed all of it for various reasons. I began 5 years after my mother had passed and I had assisted in her care. My training began after leaving the printing industry. Now, I have come to a pinnacle and am attempting nursing school.

My mother passed away suddenly back in 2007. I never got to say goodbye or even go through a sick process. I had no idea she was even ill from a heart condition. My dad passed 4 years later from lung cancer. He was stubborn and didn't like that fact he needed help. Since I wasn't able to help my parents I found peace in helping other people's love ones get the help that they need. I know most people have families of their own to look after and can't provide the daily care that their ailing love ones need. I would like to help with that. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is hearing my clients response to the question 'What are you grateful for today?' and their answer is You. I love knowing that I am taking care of them emotionally, mentally, as well as their physical needs. They trust the safe, caring, and compassionate environment I create. I've obtained Dementia Care, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's Disease & Home Health Aide Certificate. In May 2019, I became certified as a Health & Life Coach with advanced skills in Heart Disease, Weight loss & Diabetes. So I can broaden my skills to better help my clients. I started out in the past as a Certified Nursing Assistant. My experience is working in homecare one on one with clients. I have always enjoyed helping those in need and get great satisfaction from making someone's day providing them with stability and a safe comfortable environment. I go above and beyond in making sure clients are taking care of and comfortable. I feel you should treat the client how you want someone to treat your family member. Respect, being patient is very important also. I'm reliable and always want the best for my clients. My interest in homecare came from promising my grandparents that I would never let go in a nursing. I feel you should be able to stay in your own home and get care as long as possible. One of my personal achievements was me starting a business in retail.
