I feel I am a great caregiver because I care about the person as a whole and do not treat them as an object. Also, in almost 25 years I have a wide variety of experiences in a variety of settings. I have taken care of all age groups and have enjoyed all of it for various reasons. I began 5 years after my mother had passed and I had assisted in her care. My training began after leaving the printing industry. Now, I have come to a pinnacle and am attempting nursing school.

I love being able to help the senior women in my community get the best quality care at home. I'm reliable, dependable, and compassionate towards the people I serve. My mother passed away suddenly back in 2007. I never got to say goodbye or even go through a sick process. I had no idea she was even ill from a heart condition. My dad passed 4 years later from lung cancer. He was stubborn and didn't like that fact he needed help. Since I wasn't able to help my parents I found peace in helping other people's love ones get the help that they need. I know most people have families of their own to look after and can't provide the daily care that their ailing love ones need. I would like to help with that. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is hearing my clients response to the question 'What are you grateful for today?' and their answer is You. I love knowing that I am taking care of them emotionally, mentally, as well as their physical needs. They trust the safe, caring, and compassionate environment I create. I've obtained Dementia Care, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's Disease & Home Health Aide Certificate. In May 2019, I became certified as a Health & Life Coach with advanced skills in Heart Disease, Weight loss & Diabetes. So I can broaden my skills to better help my clients. I started out in the past as a Certified Nursing Assistant. My experience is working in homecare one on one with clients. I have always enjoyed helping those in need and get great satisfaction from making someone's day providing them with stability and a safe comfortable environment. I go above and beyond in making sure clients are taking care of and comfortable. I feel you should treat the client how you want someone to treat your family member. Respect, being patient is very important also. I'm reliable and always want the best for my clients. My interest in homecare came from promising my grandparents that I would never let go in a nursing. I feel you should be able to stay in your own home and get care as long as possible. One of my personal achievements was me starting a business in retail.

What makes me a better care giver is that, I have love and a lot of patience for my patients, I am honest, hardworking, and caring. Care giving job needs someone who is able to endure and overcome obstacles that come their way without giving up, or not taking the opportunity to abuse the patients and shouting at the them. I took care of my grandmother and some of my nephews and if I did not have patience, I couldn't have been able to do it.

I decided I wanted to help others when I went with my mother to work a couple of times. Seeing her work with the elderly and disabled really warmed my heart and I knew that it was something I wanted to do in the future.. I am now a CNA and very happy in this field. I would like to take it further in the healthcare system.

I have been a Home Health Worker over twenty years. I am a Mental Health Technician and have experience with Dementia, Depression, Anxiety etc... I am reliable, patient, gentle, hardworking and have a good sense of humour. I have always enjoyed working with seniors . I love the movies, music and fashion of the thirties and forties. I enjoy peoples histories and stories. Besides the technical skill set and experience of being in Home Health; over the years I have learned to perfectly set hair, give a great shave, manicure, play a fierce game of scrabble and make a real cuppa tea [not a bag] A personal achievement I am proud of is participating in Aids Walk New York ten years in a row. I love animals. I'm a nonsmoker and cannot be around smoke. Salary is negotiable.
