I feel I am a great caregiver because I am empathetic, caring, charismatic, silly, I love to make my consumers smile and be happy. I became a caregiver for the following reasons there are never enough caregivers to go around, I have worked short handed in caregiving since I started. I own a very active and mischievous 1 year old cat. I love her to death even though she is a pain in my neck. A lot... I grew up with dogs and birds too, so I'm comfortable with them as well. The only animals that I am not fan of are spiders, bees, and scorpions. I'm not afraid of snakes and will hold one that's not venomous. I do attend church regularly which does limit my availability somewhat. I first knew I wanted to be a caregiver when I was 15 years old. I started taking care of my great-grandmother in her home and absolutely loved every aspect of it, so I made it my career. It gives me so much joy to know that everyday I am making a difference in peoples lives by just being there to make life easier, providing the quality empathetic care they deserve and just being that someone they can count on daily. I have been working the the health field for 18 years. I have worked in home care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and psych hospitals. I love helping people. I love to sit and hear their the stories of their past. I am a very caring person and treat all my residents as if they were my own family. My mother was an aide when I was younger and I always admired what she did and wanted to do the same. I love everything there is about being a caregiver, from the good days to the bad. Every moment, every day is very rewarding. I have two personal achievements that I am most proud of. The first one is my three children. They are my everything and my reason to get up every day and keep doing what I do. My second one is the fact that I am now back in school. I never had enough self confidence to do it but with the support of my children and my boyfriend I know I can accomplish it and be great at it.

I have been a private duty caregiver forsix years. I have been working the last six years for a wonderful 88 year old woman with dementia and macular degeneration. She has recently passed. I assisted her with all of her daily needs. Assistance with bathing, dressing, and makeup,cooking all of her meals.planning all the meals and shopping, assisting her to all of her appointments, and assisting her with check writing, bill paying and other banking needs. I was her Health Surrogate and her Power of Attorney. I am a very caring, compassionate and dependable individual. I have not missed one day in six years. My name is Brittany Wood im a 22 year old CNA,I just moved to the area. Ever since i was a child i have always enjoyed helping others. From 11 years old till i was 21 i assisted taking care of my aunt who has intellectual disability and is also blind, this consisted of helping prepare meals, bathing and dressing. At 14 i helped care for my grandmother while she was in hospice at my home. When i went to high school i got my CNA license through our BOCES program.
