For me, being a caregiver isn't just a career. It's my calling in life. I feel as though it's what I was put here to do. My very first job at age 18 was as a caregiver for a lady with MS. I cared for her as a live in for nearly three years with one day off weekly. I then moved to direct care for disabled individuals and have accumulated several years experience. I am certified in first aid/ CPR, medication administration, insulin trained, and have a wide path of experience to fall back on. I was also caregiver for my mother for five years until she passed from ALZ. I am currently attending college studying Human and Social Services to better provide for those I work with and for. I have 2 decades of experience in geriatrics. I received my STNA certification in 2001, from their I also worked as a CNA in another state in both nursing homes in Ohio & in Georgia. I've been doing HHC in both states as well. I've worked with Alzheimer's patient's as well as hospice care. And I've received my certification through the state of Ohio for my Independent Provider to take care of individuals with special needs for the past 7 years. I'm in college finishing my associates of science degree & my pre- nursing courses. And I'm going through my course to be certified in phlebotomy. I am also certified in cpr, aed, first aid, and medication administration category 1.
