I have worked in the medical field as CNA in a hospital setting and nursing home setting for almost 10 yrs.. I enjoy taking care of people's loved ones, making them feel comfortable and cared for. What makes me a great caregiver is being able to show empathy and compassion, to see my assignment more a ministry and calling than "work". I love people and working with families. I chose this area of work because it relates to my persona in that i am a natural , caring person by nature. My greatest achievements are when I am able to see results from the care and compassion I give. For example, when I have successfully been able to transition a patient from a state of "depression" to a sense of well-being and hope. I integrate this by instilling positive attitude, care and love for my clients with genuineness . I enjoy what I do and love getting up in the morning to make a difference the patient and families' lives. Being a caregiver definitely has its ups and downs but I believe it's so much more rewarding than some people think. Being able to build a bond with someone you care for is very important. Making sure the person knows I actually care for them is what I strive for, just to see the smile on someone's face and know that I've made them feel good for at least a few moments!
