I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

I've been a caregiver PCA for 16 years caring for the elderly in their homes helping with daily living activities. I have always loved caregiving since I was a little girl my church would have us go to nursing homes and spend some time with the residents. I enjoyed doing their hair and nails and singing with them and just spending time with them. Made me decide to be a caregiver. I enjoy helping others and being able to give them the opportunity to stay in their homes with their families while I come to them to care for them.

Hi , I am Dale , better known to family as Dee! I have been doing caregiving for about 14 years on and off , I feel like being a caregiver is my calling and purpose in life. I absolutely love what I do I enjoy doing it because it allows people to continue to live their lives in the comfort of their own homes and more one on one time with a caregiver. Seeing my grandmother in a nursing home because I didn't have the knowledge to care for her in her home really pushed me into studying and going to receive my PCA certification to be able to have the proper knowledge to care for anyone.
