What helps me being a good care giver is going into the homes of elderly knowing I get to look forward to there days. Every since I was a little girl I always wanted to be a nurse and give back to the community. The most I enjoy is watching the clients exceed in life

I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

I became a caregiver in 1997 because I want to try to help anyone in need. I like being a caregiver because I get enjoyment knowing that I am able to help someone in need. I am very proud to have successfully earned my Med. Tech License. I am a wife and a mother of two beautiful children. I am very dependable, trustworthy and respectful. I have been in this field of employment for many years, have great references, and would love to help take care of and spoil your loved one as if they we're my own family. This line of work isn't for everyone but I am positive that it is my calling. It comes naturally and easy to me when I am helping someone else with whatever assistance that they may need. I sincerely get pleasure from knowing that I helped make a difference in someone else's life.. no matter how big or small .

Hi my name is April. I have worked in this field since I was 15 I knew then that I loved taking care of people and that people loved me. I always have a good personality and a smile on my face. I took care of my grandfather at home until he passed away and also both of my parents. My father became paralyzed after a hunting trip and I brought him home and took care of him that's how I learned trach care and feeding tube care. And currently I have an uncle who has a mass in his throat and I've been taking care of him at home since last December he also has a trach and a feeding tube. I have always stepped up and brought my family members home to care for instead of being placed in a nursing home.There I know they always are short staffed and patients can't get the care they need like they can at a home setting with just one aide.
