What makes me a great caregiver is that I am compassionate and empathize with my clients. I am there to help them, YES but I want them to feel that I care about them and will be there when they need me. I became a caregiver and chose this path for myself because I know what it feels like to have no one beside me and also does my grandmother and that's why I have been by her side . Its something about putting a smile on another persons face or picking them up when they aren't feeling so well, gives me a certain type of strength and confidence knowing that I can do that for a person that needs it the most. I also take my work very seriously and I am a very reliable and flexible.

I am a Navy Veteran. I received the Purple Heart for my efforts in Afghanistan. I've also received multiple Navy medals and achievements while serving in Iraq, Kuwait, humanitarian missions, and here in the states. I have learned to be patient, compassionate, thorough, very dependable, trustworthy, honest and attentive. I am a wife for twenty years to a Navy Doc on a submarine, and a mother of two beautifully amazing daughters. My husband has served in the Navy for more than 20 years! Most of which being as a Submarine IDC, which is rare because it is so tough. He makes me proud everyday. I love my family and I love being able to say I help people for a living.

Personally i have empathy and compassion to people with various condition like,pple with disability due to impairement,sickly pple who need my assistance. What i enjoy most,is when i give care to the client and help them gain their self confidence and treat them equally and with respect and by the end of the day is rewarding to see that person happy and fulfilled.

I started of in the caregiving field with taking care of my grandfather. In the process I got to learn a lot and I did enjoy doing it. I treat every client like my own family with love and compassion. Every client had different needs, so I get to understand the client first and foremost. I mostly enjoy the learning process in caregiving, no matter how long one has been a caregiver, we get to learn new things every time. I once had a client who had dementia (late stage), who did not want to go to bed (it was late at night). One thing that the client enjoyed was watching animal documentaries . I showed the client pictures of different animals that I had taken when I went to Kenya and the client calmed down and I was able to redirect the client to bed. My patience with the client helped me assure the client that I was on her side. This scenario really made me proud of the caregiver that I'm becoming. I love what I do.

Maintaining privacy for client. I became a care provider because when I worked in a nursing home as a server, their was a elderly women that was sick i felt the need to help her. I was told I could not help because I was not a caregiver. I helped her on my break; she thank me the next day.I put my two weeks in and applied as a care provider.It makes me happy then I can help residents with there activities of daily living; providing mental and physical stimulation.
