I am a mom working part-time as a CNA in a long-term care facility. I have been a CNA for almost 10 years with home health and long-term care experience. I enjoy helping other people. I enjoy being a CNA and look forward to helping and meeting new people.

I think I'm a great caregiver because my clients and residents are like family to me, I love to listen to stories and just being able to be there and show them that people care I want to help them as much as I can. I love hearing stories from my clients about the good old days, their childhoods, about what made them into who they are now. Hello, my name is Katie, but everyone calls me Kate! I had passed my CNA exam when I was in high school, but unfortunately where I have not been in the nursing field in a little while my license had expired. I had worked at the nursing home in the town I had grown up in, but when my grandmother had gotten sick I had discontinued working there to be with her around the clock to ensure she had gotten the care she needed. Even though my CNA license had expired I would not have changed anything, because of the decision I had made to care for my grandmother in her last years I was able to make sure she was given the care she needed. I have years of experience caring for elderly wether it was caring for residents at the nursing home, previous clients, or taking care of family, friends, and neighbors. I am a very outgoing person who tries everything I can to engage my client in daily activities, encouraging them to do the best they can with any task at hand with me right by their side every step of the way, and I try with everything in me to make their lives more enjoyable and less worrisome in any way possible! I really miss caring for others as it made me feel whole and like I had a meaningful purpose to my life! Getting to know a client on a one on one basis helps me make sure they get the exact care needed and I am able to help them work on their goals and get to know how/what helps each individual person better to make sure their lives are more fulfilled. Also, being one on one with a regular client I learn their habits, moods, and it makes it easier to detect signs of change. My clients/ residents had become like family that I had in the past and I would love to have that extended family once again with clients! To me, it's not just a job, I am caring for someone's grandparent/parent and want to be there for not only the client but the family as well as some days can be extremely difficult for everyone but hopefully more days are wonderful than not!

I have been a caregiver for 25 years in various types of areas. I owned a state licensed adult familyhome for adults with disabilities for 15 years. Adults were referred to my home by Health and Human Services. I provided a home and all aspects of daily living, social interactions, doctor appointments, medications, meals, household tasks as well as promoting the independence of each individual. I have also provided care for an elderly woman at first in her house and then in my house when her needs began to increase and she couldn't stay alone anymore. In addition, I have provided in home care to 2 children with disabilities and complex medical needs. I enjoy what I do because I love the satisfaction of helping to improve others lives. I consider myself to be a very caring, empathetic, dedicated, self driven person. I would think that those I've worked with would say the same.

I was state tested for 16 years . I have done. Private care and worked in nursing homes . I am a very empathetic person . Who cares about people , old and young . I enjoy hearing my elders story of their life , what they did for a living , what it was like when they were young. I am a very hard working woman . I have earned everything I have . Nothing was given to me ,and I have raised my children the same way.

I became a caregiver cause of my passion of helping others. I love seeing the smile on my clients face when I get there. Sometimes I maybe the only person they will see.
