I have a very bubbly personality and energy to match. The healthcare field is very rewarding to me. Making people smile or just holding their hand, when they don't feel good or just need another humans touch, gives me a great sense of purpose. When my grandmother was in a nursing home I found it very difficult to deal with the attitudes of some of the staff. My thought was, aren't the workers supposed to be friendly and attentive.? So I decided that I wanted to get into this work. When ever I get a chance to hear an amazing story from one of my patience it's a joy. You never know what people have had to go through to get where they are. I love when my elderly patients tell me stories of "the good ole days"! It's like a history lesson and a personal perfessor. The people that I have encountered in my 15 years of being a PCA have given me so much to be grateful for. Their stories have helped me in so many aspects of life. Like purchasing my first home while working for a man that used to own a construction company! That is one of my greatest personal achievements and that patient, although not able to walk anymore. Gave me so much knowledge and foresight. Every patient has gifted me with wisdom and for that, I am greatful to be able to gift them with care, respect and companionship.
