I became a Caregiver because I wanted to be able to help individuals in a positive way. To be in this type of business you have to be an extremely compassionate person, someone who is willing to go the extra mile for a patient even if it means sacrificing a little. One of the most memorable experiences that comes to mind was when I had a patient who only had a couple hours to live. Working in a CCU atmosphere, this is very common. However, this patient had nobody to sit with her and hold her hand while she continued her journey to another life. I had asked the RN if I could just sit with her and hold he r hand just so she wouldn't pass on alone. When I did this it was a very emotional experience, but very rewarding.
