I became a caregiver because I believe all people should be treated with respect,dignity,patience and understanding. There are many aspects of this field I enjoy. Mostly I enjoy hearing about other people's lives. Over the years I have learned many things that no text book can teach. Our elderly are a wealth of knowledge and history. I am proud of many achievements. When I assist a person and their family it gives me a great sense of joy to know I have brought laughter,patience and understanding into people's lives. As well I am proud of the fact that I am alert in reference to how people feel. Keeping an awareness of not just their mental state but their physical state. It was this sense of awareness that helped me get one of my last patients to the hospital on time in regards to cardiac arrest. I am 48 years old. I live in woodbridge with my husband of 26 years. We have two daughters. One is a special education teacher for the town of Westport, the other works with preschoolers prepping them for kindergarten. I acquired my cna in 2005 and have been working privately since 2007. I have aided and assisted many families I have taken it upon myself to study alzheimer's and dementia over the years and the specific techniques needed when assisting those with these issues. I have also worked with hospice patients and the mentally ill. I have always been since a child very compassionate, friendly,patient and easygoing. I like to incorporate smiles and laughter in what I do
