My entire life, people have been drawn to my light, loving energy, compassion and sense of humor. Most often I have heard that my presence speaks volumes, I'm a ray of sunshine and an earth angel. I feel our elders are a treasure and should receive the help and support they deserve. After decades working in a corporate setting I decided to leave and pursue a more heart-centered career. I had been drawn for years to the idea of working with elders and those in hospice and once I started training I knew I had found my life purpose. Regardless of age, I enjoy being a caregiver! I have been a substitute teacher for over 10 years, and have taught young children- some with special needs. In 2014, my now 94 year old mother came to live with my husband and me. She has developed dementia, and the amount of care she is needing has significantly increased. I feel that my experience working with children has made this transition a little easier for me.

I became a caregiver to my sister in Los Angeles, CA, who had cancer in 2015. After she passed away, I knew that this was my calling. I was told by the staff at Cedar Saini that they appreciated my help while I was there looking after my sister. The staff acknowledged my patience and compassion towards other patients also. I earned my CNA and worked in a nursing home as well as providing in home care for others who were like my sister. My life changed, as I knew there was no better way for me to contribute to others by helping them daily. I enjoyed their company and looked forward to making a difference!

I like to talk to my patients like they're my own mother and father. I'd like to make them laugh and take them for walks and we even walk down to a restaurant if there's one close I have been taken care of dementia patients for a little while and now I'm working with autistic. Most of all I'd like to get my patients to trust me and what I'm doing.
