I think patience and compassion are essential. This is a job that requires a lot of tolerance for challenging situations, and good communication and a positive attitude also go a long way. I have always loved helping people and when I was younger my grandmother developed dementia I felt very happy to be able to help her. I am proud to be able to put a smile on peoples faces even on the hard days I'm proud of the work I do.

I am 57 years old mature, responsible and experienced caregiver from Bloomington.my background is in Elementary Education but in the last 10 years or more, I have worked as a Home Health aide in senior facilities and residential. Most of my career has been as a caregiver. There was a brief time that I worked in accounting completing my degree in 2015. It seems that I am doing what I enjoy the most helping others.

I am well experienced. I became a caregiver, more than twenty years ago, to give quality care to those in need. I enjoy meeting new people and listening to their stories. I have had Certified Nursing Assistant training, Direct Support Professional training, Qualified Medication Aide training, and am well read with experience as Physical Therapy Aide. What makes me a great caregiver is that I enjoy helping the elderly and I've been a CNA for the last 4 years and I also do home health care also. I've worked in nursing homes where there was many of residents that needed help with ADLs.

I have experience with dementia patients and enjoy helping others which is why I chose a career in Home health. From experience I know how hard it can be to watch a family members health fade and When you have limited time to be there for them it is that much more difficult. This is what I am here for. What makes me a great caregiver is that I'm always on time and ready to take care, I also love making sure the resident feels secured in whatever they are doing. What attracted me to be a caregiver was just the idea of being able to help my elders. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the good moment's that you share with your resident. Also the resident feeling good about who is taking care of them. Some personal achievements of mine is that I am 18 years old with a highschool diploma, my CNA certification, and drivers license.

Last summer I started some private care for a friend who was recovering from broken leg. I started with Senior Helpers at about the same time but did not have client for a few months. Since Covid-19 I have primarily just done weekly grocery shopping. I currently provide a shower to a weekly dementia client and clean her bathroom and cat boxes.
