What makes me a great caregiver is that I have over 18 years of experience being a caregiver/CNA. I understand what's it's like from the other side, people have always told me that I'm compassionate and have great empathy. I majored in Medical Assistance at Blue Cliff College and completed externship at St Charles Community Health Center - Norco, LA July 2017 - August 2017 I was trained to Execute general office duties: greet patients, triage, and update patients charts using the EHR system. Assisted physicians with patient examinations, and explained treatment procedures to patients. Completed lab orders, diagnostic testing, collect lab specimens, administered injections, assisted with follow-up calls, faxed documents and venipunctures. Also, ensured exam rooms were cleaned and stocked.

I became a caregiver after Covid began in 2020 and I was laid off from the law office I was working at due to it being closed to the public. I found a job working as a home health aid and caregiver and within a week I had a full time schedule of regular clients. A few of whom remained my clients during the entire duration of my employment there. I was always requested to stay on as a clients assigned caregiver when I'd fill in for someone or pick up an open shift, sadly the office always had to inform them my schedule was full and there was a waiting list of people who had already requested that they received a phone call when or if a time slot that fit their schedule became open on mine. I was employee of the month in February of 2021 and was asked to stay on and just be open to take weekend or occasional jobs when I resigned in June of 2021. I was sad but had been offered a job to pursue my notary commission that I have had since 2014 and I needed the extra money, but I did accept the offer to not resign but remain available to take occasional jobs. I was so busy at my new place of employment and completely burnt out that there wasn't ever an open day for me to work for them as a caregiver after that, but it was only due to the overwhelming amount of work and stress of the new job I had accepted without being completely aware of what I had jumped into. I wasn't informed of many aspects and also told that my hours would be 40/hrs a week on average and rarely exceed that. I ended up working long 12 hour days for months and missed my laid back and flexible job caring for other people and having no stress during that time. I realized that caregiving came naturally to me and during that time, I experienced more job satisfaction and overall happiness than I had experienced in any previous 8-5. I've decided to jump back into that and see what future clients I may get to know in the future.
